Devonshires Claims - Finalist for ‘Clinical Negligence Team of the Year’ at the Personal Injury Awards 2020.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

I aim to give the Claimant client a clear voice within the litigation process, to achieve justice as far as that is possible with monetary compensation and to establish how the negligence arose, with the hope that reoccurrence can be minimised/avoided.

I am rewarded when at the end of a claim, the client considers that ‘justice has been done’ and is able to alleviate some of the impact of the injury with the benefit of damages/package(s) in place.

I am empathetic to the difficulties of the lay client in addressing litigation in respect of the naturally upsetting and often very sensitive circumstances surrounding clinical negligence and therefore aim to approach all aspects ensuring that the client clearly understands the steps being taken and the litigation process.  I am determined to achieve a good outcome for the client.

Notable cases

Obtaining an extensive damages settlement and package for a brain injured child; obtaining extensive damages for a young man at the outset of his career; initially leading the Team in respect of (Montgomery) claims relating to the failure to obtain informed consent in ophthalmic claims for laser/lens exchange surgery.
