What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

I am an empath and love to help people. Having experienced clinical negligence first hand and losing loved ones as a result I have always had a dogged determination to try and prevent others from having to go through the trauma and heartache that clinical negligence causes. The shared experiences and understanding helps put my clients’ at ease. They know that they are heard, understood and are safe in the knowledge that I will always go the extra mile to help and support them.

Seeing clients and their families at the end of a claim with a network of tailored support/care/assistance etc around them to assist long after a claim has settled makes it extremely rewarding and seeing Trusts engage in inquiries and amend policies and procedures to try and prevent negligence from arising is always a brilliant step in the right direction.

I am keen advocate and engager of ADR and try to obtain swift resolutions as often as possible to alleviate the stress from my clients. That being said, I will always ensure my clients are fully compensated and any future needs are planned out and met before I conclude a claim. My clients deserve a full package and that’s what I strive to give them in every case.

Notable cases

Kim successfully obtained a significant award of damages for a Claimant who pursued a ‘never event’ claim following negligent surgery to remove polyps from the colon which resulted in the need for further (emergency) surgery, bowel resectioning and a lifelong stoma.

Kim has successfully assisted numerous clients and/or their families in obtaining compensation arising from delay or total failure to diagnose cancers resulting in radical surgical interventions and occasionally some avoidable terminal diagnoses.

Successfully pursued an Ambulance Trust in a claim for hypoxic brain injury following cardiac arrest of a young mother, leading to her death.

Kim has successfully pursued the NHS in respect of negligently performed cholecystectomy procedures and substandard aftercare causing the Claimant’s potential life long side effects. Alongside the claims being made the GMC were notified and undertook independent reviews of the failings of the surgeon with many of the raised allegations being upheld.
