Jeanette advises on a wide range of cases and has specific experience dealing with claims involving medical negligence, including delay in diagnosing various types of cancer, bowel injury, ophthalmic claims, orthopaedic claims, amputation claims, birth injuries (by way of mismanaged labour resulting in injury to the mother or child), gynaecological cases, dental claims, delay in diagnosing DVT’s, prescription negligence and management, missed fractures and general surgical negligence.
Jeanette has acted on behalf of Protected parties and Minors. Jeanette also deals with fatal accident claims, representing families dealing with the death of a loved one.
Jeanette currently deals with a number of claims involving birth injuries to mother and child, including Erbs palsy, and cerebral palsy, gynaecological negligence, orthopaedic treatment, missed fractures and negligent surgery, negligent hospital care resulting in pressure sores and ultimately amputation and dental negligence.
Jeanette has a particular interest in dealing with cases involving bowel injury resulting in serious and long term consequences and disabilities for the patients, either by a delay in diagnosing cancer or by negligent bowel surgery.
Jeanette is also experienced in dealing with Claims under S75 of the Consumer Credit Act. These are claims where there is liability of the creditor for breaches by supplier, usually associated with negligent dental treatment.
Jeanette is mentioned as a key Lawyer in the Legal 500.
Jeanette is Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives as well as a member of APIL.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Jeanette is very client-focused, she is a very caring lawyer and has an extremely empathic nature when dealing with clients who have suffered the most debilitating injuries.
Jeanette takes pride in helping and guiding clients through the litigation process, which she understands can be extremely complicated, challenging and difficult for clients, particularly those and the families of those who have suffered the most serious of injuries. Jeanette strives to take the pressure off the clients by guiding them through the litigation and allowing them to focus on their treatment or recovery whilst she deals with the litigation, trying to obtain a swift resolution to the client’s claim.
She is focused on maximising damages for a client to ensure that they are fully compensated for their losses or, where there are ongoing problems and/or treatments required, to obtain damages for clients to provide them with a better quality of life with the most suitable treatment and care required for their needs.
Jeanette successfully obtained a significant six-figure award of damages for a Claimant relating to the management of the induction of the Claimant’s labour and emergency caesarean section. The Claimant was left with dense adhesions causing chronic abdominal and pelvic pain. The Claimant was at risk of future bowel damage and at risk of requiring a colostomy.
Jeanette successfully assisted a number of clients and their families to obtain compensation as a result of a failure to diagnose bowel cancer, leading to significant surgical intervention, bowel damage meaning our Clients required radical surgery and the placement of a stoma, and sadly in some claims, death as a result of the delay in diagnosis.
Jeanette successfully assisted clients to obtain compensation in claims for negligence arising out of negligent prescription and management of Dexamethasone. As a result, clients suffered either significant bowel injuries resulting in the requirement of a stoma or more serious and more extensive systemic injuries including steroid-induced diabetes, bilateral pneumonia, gastritis, cellulitis and respiratory failure resulting in ECMO.
Jeanette successfully assisted Clients to obtain compensation for negligence due to lack of informed consent for either laser or lens replacement eye surgery, resulting in reduced vision and a significant reduction in the quality of their vision.
Jeanette successfully assisted Clients to obtain compensation where they brought S75 Claims under the Consumer Credit Act for claims that relate to negligent Dental treatment.
