The patient may start to feel better straightaway. However, they should take it easy for a few days.
It can take anything from a few hours to a few days to heal after ERCP. It is normal to feel nauseous or have a sore throat for a day or so.
How long is the hospital stay after ERCP?
The procedure itself can take up to half an hour. The patient will need to stay at the hospital to recover, which could take an hour or more. They will need to be escorted home and should not drive. Sometimes the recovery process may involve an overnight hospital stay.
